What is Kojicon?

Kojicon is an annual virtual gathering of mold-based fermentation experts sharing the knowledge you need to create delicious food and drinks.

Presented by the Yellow Farmhouse Education Center, participants have access to daily streamed sessions and demonstrations that explore the history of koji and its applications. Participants will also be invited to networking opportunities and exclusive discounts.

This conference is geared for everyone from the Koji-curious to the seasoned professional.

What if I miss a presentation?

Registrants will receive a link to each of the sessions to watch the presentation in real time and engage with presenters through the chat feature.

Can’t make one of the sessions? No problem, the link can be viewed any time after the original session so you can also revisit as often as you need to.

Can I ask the presenters questions?

If watching the presentations live, attendees can communicate through the chat feature of the live stream platform. We also utilize a community platform where you can ask questions of other attendees and presenters.

How are presenters chosen?

Kojicon, a collaborative effort between the Yellow Farmhouse Education Center and Curator Rich Shih, strives to feature a wide range of speakers engaged in Koji and mold-based fermentation practices. Our speakers bring extensive experience, having contributed to some of the world's finest restaurants, conducted research at leading culinary institutions, or studied and explored fermentation in their own personal practice. Each of them has played a crucial role in nurturing and enhancing the larger fermentation community.

The selection of Kojicon presenters is meticulously curated by our dedicated team and is based on the alignment of their work with the theme of each year's conference. Furthermore, our criteria for speaker selection encompass the following:

  1. Demonstrates a deep knowledge and expertise in mold-based fermentation.

  2. Commitment to the democratization of knowledge, with a willingness to share their work.

  3. Speakers from diverse backgrounds to enrich the perspectives presented at the conference.

We are continually on the lookout for a diverse and talented pool of speakers to contribute to upcoming conferences. If you are aware of individuals whom you believe would be a good fit, please complete this form.  While submitting this form does not guarantee a spot as a conference speaker, your recommendations are highly valued as we strive to foster a vibrant and inclusive community dedicated to the art of fermentation.
